THE M22 IS A MULTI FUNCTIONING INTENSE PULSED LIGHT SYSTEM THAT TREATS MANY SKIN PROBLEM SUCH AS AGE SPOTS AND DISCOLORATION (DYSCHROMIA, LENTIGO, LIVER SPOTS)  ROSACEA AND ACNE. IT IS THE MOST ADVANCE LIGHT BASED TREATMENT SYSTEM AVAILABLE.

AGE SPOTS AND SUN DAMAGED SKIN

Aging has three main factors: genetics, time and environment. While you can’t change what kind of skin you inherit or the number of years on your calendar, Intense Pulsed Light™ (IPL) treatments with the M22  can dramatically improve appearance by removing visible cues like age spots. Protocol varies according to the individual, but on the average, expect 2-6 treatments scheduled at approximately 3-4-week intervals. Age spots darken temporarily after treatment, then slough off in a matter of days, revealing smoother, more even skin tone and a more youthful appearance.  At Essence MediSpa we also use instruments called the Lam Probe and the Cryo Probe depending on the lesion type and location. Because we have multiple treatments available we are able to tailor our treatments to your individual skin discoloration.

“..dramatic benefits, comfortable treatments, truly non-ablative, no down time…The IPL procedure has minimal adverse effects, excellent long-term results and a very high measure of patient satisfaction”

Mitchel P. Goldman, M.D., Dermatologic Surgeon, La Jolla, California

HYPERPIGMENTATION

Hyper means excess and pigment refers to color, so hyper-pigmentation means excess color in comparison to your normal skin.  Discoloration can be light brown to black in appearance. While pigment abnormalities can occur at any age and on any part of the body, they become accelerated in aging due to abnormalities of melanin production. Sun exposure makes the lesions darker. The most common hyper-pigmentation disorders for which people seek treatment are: “liver” spots more commonly called “age spots”, or melasma (dark pigment formed from any hormonal changes induced during pregnancy or contraceptive pills).

Essence MediSpa uses several different treatments to remove discoloration. The M22, the Lam Probe and the Cryo Probe. This way we can tailor our treatments to our patients' individual problem, rather than try to use one device to treat everyone.

BROKEN CAPILLARIES

Erase Broken Capillaries. You know those little red lines that appear around the nose or on your cheeks…and stubbornly resist cover-up? Intense Pulsed Light™ (IPL) treatment can banish them . By delivering broadband light in highly focused pulses, IPL provides pinpoint accuracy to capillary removal that won’t disturb healthy tissue or other blood vessels in the area. Veins disappear. And there’s nothing to show you’ve had anything done, except clearer, younger-looking skin.

FRECKLES

Fade Freckles. What might be adorable as a kid often proves less desirable as an adult. Bleaching agents, strong acid peels or ablative lasers were a common approach until treatments such as the M22 Intense Pulsed Light treatment. IPL freckle treatment works without causing allergic reactions, burns or the uneven skin tones often associated with bleaching. And unlike aggressive peels and lasers, it doesn’t damage healthy tissue, cause scarring or require a lengthy recovery. After a few gentle treatments, even the most stubborn freckles simply fade away.

How does an IPL photofacial work?

The groundbreaking technology behind the Lumenis M22 system resolves many of the age- and sun-related imperfections you develop. Treatments simply involve exposing your face, neck, and décolleté to intense pulsed light (IPL) beams with a specialized handheld device.

Each pulse of light is absorbed by melanin pigments and oxyhemoglobin components in your skin. This intense burst of light is converted into heat energy when absorbed, which forces those discolored cells to break apart. Over time, your body flushes them away naturally, leaving beautifully younger-looking skin behind.

What can an IPL photofacial treat?

An IPL photofacial from Essence Medispa is personalized to you and your concerns. What’s so unique about the revolutionary Lumenis M22 platform is that is can resolve all kinds of issues all at once. Your IPL photofacial session can minimize the appearance of:

  • Freckles
  • Age spots
  • Brown spots
  • Sun damage
  • Broken capillaries

You’re probably even going to notice that fine lines and wrinkles start to disappear after your IPL photofacial session at Essence Medispa.

When will I have results after an IPL photofacial?

Because IPL is gentler than traditioner laser treatments, you can expect little-to-no downtime afterward. You might have a little redness after your IPL photofacial at Essence Medispa, but this fades away within a couple of hours.

With each passing day, you start noticing that your skin is more even-toned and smoother. For optimal results and dramatically younger-looking skin, Dr. Weinman usually recommends a series of about two to six IPL photofacial sessions, each spaced three to four weeks apart.

Even though the results of your IPL photofacial at Essence Medispa are permanent, since hyperpigmentation is being targeted directly, genetics, sun exposure, and environmental pollutants can all lead to future skin imperfections.

To continue enhancing your healthier skin, Dr. Weinman often suggests scheduling routine maintenance IPL photofacials about once or twice a year. This way, your skin is always looking its best, and you don’t have to worry about embarrassing brown spots sneaking up again.
