Have you considered microdermabrasion but aren’t sure exactly what it is or if it is right for you? This blog post will hopefully answers some of your questions about microdermabrasion. Of course if you want to know more, take time to schedule an appointment with an experienced technician at Essence MediSpa.

What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is when an esthetician or dermatologist use gentle abrasive crystals to remove the top layer of dead skin on your face. This brings oxygen to the living skin cells underneath and encourages your skin to regenerate naturally. It reduces the appearance of lines, sun spots, and reduces pore size.

Does microdermabrasion hurt?

Microdermabrasion does not hurt and is entirely non-invasive. It leaves your skin feeling softer than ever and is a great way to pamper yourself.

How many treatments will I need?

Our clients see the best results when they do a series of six treatments. Although it isn’t required to do all six, six treatments will get maximum results.

Should I pair microdermabrasion with any other treatments?

Some of our clients like to pair microdermabrasion with a peel of glycolic or lactic acid. These peels are quick ways to remove dead skin and reveal fresh skin underneath. They reduce the appearance of lines, age spots, and sun spots. Lactic acid is recommended for clients with dry to normal skin, while glycolic acid works best on those with normal to oily skin.

How much does it cost?

A half hour microdermabrasion treatment is $80 and a package of 6 treatments is $450. For a micro with a peel, the cost is $120.
