The Cutting Edge on Toe Nail Care
Promising New Treatment for Fungus-Free Nails
An Alternative to Topical and Oral Treatments That Can Kill Fungus Instantly

A new painless procedure is now available for the treatment of fungal (mycotic) nails. This breakthrough technology was introduced at the American Podiatric Medical Association Annual Conference in Hawaii in 2008. It is known as the Inpulse Pinpoint Laser treatment. To date, it had been utilized by top podiatric surgeons in California, and now introduced to the northeast by Dr. Tracey Toback and Dr. Stephen Weinman, both board certified physicians in the Hudson Valley.

Fungus nails, otherwise known as onychomycosis, often present as yellowish discoloration and thickening with underlying debris of the toenails. Most commonly seen on the large toes, these changes can occur on any or all of the toenails. The medical technology company, Patholase, developed the laser solution researching various spectrums of light to determine the one that would pass through the nail without damaging it, yet be able to vaporize the germs and kill the fungus that lives under the nail.

"This technology is like no other available today", states Dr. Toback. "It is performed in one treatment, right in the comfort of our office, without pain, drugs, or anesthesia." The procedure involves a use of an invisible light and usually takes less than 30 minutes. Patholase, is a laser technology company with an impressive list of accomplishments made up of world class scientists. They have now introduced its first patented laser technology into the marketplace. This procedure surpasses those of the more dangerous medications and has a nearly 90% success rate in its clinical studies to successfully and safely destroy the fungus.

"We are so excited to bring this technology to the Hudson Valley", explains Dr.Toback. "Together, Dr. Weinman and I can cure all nail fungus problems. This procedure is so greatly needed for our patients. Besides the obvious embarrassment of having these nails, they often cause pain, infection and bone spurs. In the past many of our patients were prescribed pills that were not easily tolerated, had many side effects, including potential life threatening liver problems. To say we can now address this problem safely without medication is nothing short of amazing."
